Our first day in China. Today we had the time to get some rest and recover from our long flight. So, me and some other people decided we wanted to get to know the neighborhood a little bit better. We took a stroll with our camera’s around the area. Around 4 o’clock we had our very first excursion. Sunset at Wuzhi Mountain.

Wuzhi Mountain is about an hour away from the hotel we stayed at. Once we reached Wuzhi Mountain, we had to get our gear from the cars and then our climb to the top began. On average it takes you about 15 minutes to reach the top, but when you’re with a group of photographers, make that double. We had to take photos every single minute, because of the gorgeous surroundings.

Once we reached the top, it was magnificent. The mountains are just breathtaking and the whole setting felt very surreal. the mountains look like pieces of paper layered on top of each other. Maybe when looking at the picture above this blog post, you can understand what I mean by that. I don’t think you can find this anywhere else in the world.

After reaching the top, we had to pick a spot for our camera immediately. After setting everything up, it was just a matter of waiting. The lights on these mountains change constantly. Every minute the light is different than the minute before. This was one of the reasons I wanted to go to China so badly. The beautiful landscape and colors that are out of this world. I also had to remind myself to step back from the camera and just enjoy the moment of being there. In wonderful China. Wow!

After one hour of taking pictures, it was time to get back to the taxi. It was already getting dark, and the path downhill was not lighted. Fortunately, some people from our group brought some small lights. But due to the small path, we really had to watch our steps.

Once we were back at the hotel, we had dinner. The hotel we stayed at, Hotel Outside Inn, took such good care of us. And the food was so good! Every evening they had a whole range of different dishes. I could get used to this rice table.  During dinner, we talked about our experiences from that day. And after that, we all got back to our rooms and had some well-deserved sleep.
